Balloon Stomp (to the music “Get Ready 4 This” by 2 Unlimited) - Everybody gets a balloon attached to a string that is tied to their ankle. The object is to pop the balloons of other people while protecting yours. Players must stay within arranged areas. Each time the “high energy” music stops, everyone must freeze. The last person left with an unpopped balloon, wins. Back To Top

Balloon Race (to the music “Wipe Out” by The Surfaris) - Teams are made, each with two lines of team members facing each other. The first two partners facing each other on each team put a balloon between them wherever the DJ calls, i.e. hips, shoulders, stomach, etc. Holding the balloon between that point on their bodies, they race to the end of the line. The balloon is then passed back to the head of the line and the next two partners on each team go. The fastest team for each race gets a point. The balloon must never be touched by either hands or arms. If a balloon drops, the partners must pick it up, go back to the head of the line and start again. The team with the most points wins. Balloon Pass (to the music “Walk Don’t Run” by The Ventures) - Teams are made and stand in line facing the front of the room. The starting person at the head of the line on each team passes a balloon over their head to the person behind them, who then passes the balloon under their legs to the next person in line, who passes the balloon over their head to the next person, who passes the balloon under their legs, and so on. When the balloon gets to the end, that person runs to the front of the line and it starts all over. The first team that gets their “starting person” all the way to the back wins. Back To Top

Balloon Pop (to the music “Up, Up and Away” by The Fifth Dimension) - Teams of four people each, two “poppers” and two “blowers.” The object is simple: two people blow up the balloons and two people pop them. The “poppers” must hold the balloons between themselves and pop them without touching the balloons with their hands. The team that pops the most balloons in three minutes, wins. Back To Top

Balloon Stuff (to the music “Eat It” by Wierd Al Yankovich) - Teams of four, one "stuffy" and three "stuffers." The "stuffy" puts on an oversized t-shirt, and the "stuffers" blow up balloons and stuff them under the t-shirt of the "stuffy". The team with the most balloons under the shirt in three minutes, wins. Back To Top

Thread the Needle (to the music “Pick Up The Pieces” by The Average White Band) - All players join hands in a circle with a hula hoop hanging from one person’s arm. When the music starts, play begins, the person with the hoop must step though it and pass it to a neighboring player without letting go of that person’s hands. The next player then does the same thing. Whoever has the hoop when the music stops is “out.” Play continues like “Musical Chairs” until only one person is left—the winner. The game can also be played as a race with teams lined up with separate hoops. The quickest team to pass the hoop from the first person in line to the last, wins. Back To Top

Drinking Contest (to the music "Have a Drink On Me" by AC/DC) - Each contestant is given a baby bottle filled with four ounces of an appropriate beverage. The contestants line up in a row facing those in attendance, and on signal they proceed to suck out the bottle's contents as quickly as possible.  The first contestant to drain their bottle wins.   Back To Top

Musical Men [Musical Chairs] (to the music “Don’t Sit Under the Apple Tree” by The Andrews Sisters) - Each gentleman is assigned a number that is placed in a hat, and sits in a chair facing out in a circle. A circle of ladies numbering one more than the men walk around the circle of chairs as the music is playing. When the music stops, all must find a lap to sit on; the odd person is out. The gentleman whose number is then drawn out of the hat is eliminated, along with his chair, and the game continues. The last couple left, wins. Back To Top

Long Balloon Pass (to the music “Can’t Touch This” by M.C. Hammer) - All players form a circle. Using a long balloon each player passes the balloon around the circle between their legs. They are not allowed to use their hands. When the music stops, who ever is touching the balloon is out. The last one left wins. Back To Top

Pass and Guess (for the dinner hour) - A jar is filled with Jelly Beans and is passed around the table. Each person must write on a piece of paper their guess and their name. They then hand it to the DJ. The person who guesses the closest to the exact number, wins the jar and beans. Back To Top

Human Ring Toss (to the music “Hockey Party Jam Mega Mix”) - Eight people at a time, four teams of two. One person wears a hat with a point on it and is the “catcher,” their teammate is the “tosser.” The “tosser” tries to get a ring on the “catcher’s” hat from ten feet away. The team with the most catches in three minutes, wins. Back To Top

Marshmallow Run (to the music of “Sanford and Son”) - Teams are made up and stand in a line on one side of the dance floor facing a large glass on the other side. Each team member has a straw. One at a time, they use their straw to suck up a marshmallow, carry it across the dance floor and deposit it into the glass. They then run back and slap the hand of the next person in line who repeats the process. The first team to deposit one marshmallow for each player, wins. Back To Top

Mummy Wrap (to the music “Monster Mash” by Bobby Boris Pickett) - Teams of four, one “mummy” and three “wrappers.” Two rolls of toilet paper are used for each team. “Wrappers” run around and wrap the “mummy.” Each time the paper breaks, they must switch “wrappers.” First team to finish both rolls, wins. Limbo Contest (to a medley of Limbo music) - The "traditional way" by arching backward (with spotters or on a soft surface) or just whoever can go the lowest with only their feet touching the ground, wins. The Limbo can be staged as an event or grow out of the music as a dance floor routine.  Back To Top

Hula Hoop Contest (to a medley of Disco music) - Whoever can last the longest while spinning the hoop around their waist, wins. (Contestants often must meet various challenges or be eliminated.) Back To Top  

Huggy Bear (to the music “We Are Family” by Sister Sledge) - Everyone is on the dance floor. Play a song and have everyone dance. Yell out a number and the people must get into groups of that number. Anyone not in a group of that number is out. Good activity for all ages. Back To Top

Coke and Pepsi - Two lines sitting on chairs, facing their partner across the dance floor, one line is “Coke” and the other is “Pepsi.” When one name is called, that line runs to the other side and sits on the knee of their partner. When “Seven Up” is called out both lines run to the middle and “High-Five” their partner. When “Star Trek” is called out, everyone raises their right hand up and yells "Beam me up, Scotty!” When the name of the Guest of Honor is called out, everyone points at him/her, and yells, “You’re the greatest!” Good activity for all ages. Walla Balla (to the music “Shake Your Booty” by KC and the Sunshine Band) - Up to sixteen people, four players at a time strap on a Walla Balla belt. The object of the game is to move your hips and body (no hands allowed) and swing the ball, that's hanging from the end of the string, into one of the 3 baskets. (Three minute time limit.) Wango Tango ( to "Hockey Party Jam") - Two team members face each other with the Wango Tango rod between them, waste high. On signal, they cooperate with one another to wrap the ball on the string around the rod, much like tether ball, but with both players aiming to wrap the ball in the same direction.  Back To Top

Musical Chairs Scavenger Hunt (to the music “Jessica” by The Allman Brothers) - All players come to the dance floor with a chair. Everyone must sit. The DJ calls something out like a "Man's Belt," a "Cell Phone," or a "Man with a Mustache." The players run to find one. While they are gone, one chair is removed. The person who comes back and doesn't have a seat is out. Items get harder to find as there are fewer and fewer contestants. Back To Top

Indoor Volley Ball (to a mix of Techno Music) - A volley ball game with a long net set up on the dance floor, using a large beach ball instead of a hard volley ball. Hillarious activity, good for all ages. Back To Top

Chicken Pops (to the music "Chicken Head" by 36 Mafia) Make some beaks out of party hats with a pin at the end. Then take a Balloon Bouquet of about 20 balloons for each team and place at one end of the room. Next, have the teams at the other end, when you say go, they have to walk like a chicken to the balloons and "peck" out a balloon and then return. Then the next player on the team does the same. This continues until all of the teams balloons are popped. If a player pops more than one balloon, they get a penalty point for each additional balloon they pop. The team that finishes first and has the fewest penalty points wins. Back To Top

Balloon Soccer (to the music "Hey Song") Two goalies sit at opposite corners of the room in a chair. Both goalies have pushpins that will pop balloons. The rest of the group is divided into two teams. To begin, drop some (as many as you want) air-inflated balloons in the center of the room. Each team tries to get the balloons to its goalie, by kicking them. They may never touch a balloon with their hands. The goalie who gets a balloon and pops it scores a point for the team. The goalie must remain seated and cannot leave the chair to catch and pop a balloon. The team that pops the most balloons wins. Back To Top

Balloon Sock Hop (to the music "Rock Around the Clock" by Bill Haley) Balloon Sock Hop is a great game, but it requires lots of room and lots of balloons. For a 30 second game you'll need about 10 balloons for each player. To play, divide the players evenly into teams and assign a balloon color to each team. Then scatter an even number of different colors of balloons around the room. Have the players take off there shoes and start playing the music. The players have to stomp their color of balloons to pop them. After 30 seconds, stop the music, and count up the remaining balloons. Whichever team has the fewest balloons left of their color wins. Twenty-One (to the music of "Soul Bossa Nova" by Quincy Jones) Teams of 5 people each, form a line on one side of the dance floor. On the opposite side for each team there are 21 large plastic or Styrofoam cups. In the middle of the dance floor, taped in front of each team is an “X.” One at a time, a player from each team races to their cups, carries one to the “X” and forms a pyramid (6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1). When a player has placed their cup, they go to the end of their line and the next player does the same thing. If the pyramid falls down during the building process, the team member on the dance floor has to set up the whole thing before their team can proceed. The team that finishes their pyramid first, wins. Back To Top

Dance Contests (Twist, Shag, Jitterbug, Free Style, Etc., Single Contestants, Couples) - Contestants dance in the middle of a large circle formed by everyone in attendance. Once the music starts, contestants can be eliminated by "tapping out" the majority and narrowing the competition down to a few finalists. These finalists have a dance-off and the judges (everyone in the circle) choose the winner(s) by making noise for their favorite contestant as the DJ places his hand over the contestant's head.   Back To Top

Sit On It! The Balloon Pump Game (to the music of "Tequila" by the Champs) - Two to four teams are formed with five to ten players on each team. A bellows pump with a balloon attached to the hose is placed on a sturdy chair for each team. One team member will hold the back of the chair, and another will hold the balloon to the end of the bellows pump. The race begins with one person at a time sitting on the bellows pump. The object is to blow up and pop the balloon. Teams move rapidly, members sitting and changing off. First team to pop the balloon, by blowing it up with the bellows wins.  Back To Top

Pass the Orange (to the music "You Dropped a Bomb On Me" by The Gap Band) Teams are made to stand in lines, (boy/girl/boy/girl) positioned so they are most visible to the audience. The first person in line gets an orange and holds it in place either between his shoulder and head or chin and neck. Once in place, the orange may not be touched by anyone's hands. On signal, the orange is passed down the line from team member to team member. If it drops, it can be picked up, reposotioned, and play continues again without using any hands. The team to first pass their orange to the end of the line, wins.  Back To Top

Toothpick Lifesaver Pass (to the music "Yes" by Amber) Teams are made to stand in lines, (boy/girl/boy/girl) positioned so they are most visible to the audience. Everyone is given a toothpick. The first person in line receives a lifesaver candy and places it on his toothpick which he holds in his mouth. On signal, the lifesaver is passed from team member to team member, toothpick to toothpick. No hands are allowed. If the lifesaver drops, a new one is supplied and play continues. The first team to pass their lifesaver to the last person in line wins.  Back To Top

Frozen T-Shirt Contest (to the music "No Shirt, No Shoes, No Problem" by Kenny Chesney) - Each contestant is instructed to get two assistants and come forward. The contestants are handed a new T-shirt that has been folded like a brick and frozen solid. (The shirts are quite stiff, but not like a block of ice.) On signal each team must do whatever it takes to thaw out their shirt  by sitting on it, throwing it on the ground, hugging it, etc. The first contestant to put their shirt on wins.   Back To Top

Achoo! (to "Saber Dance" by Khachaturian) - Teams line up behind a facial tissue dispenser taped to a table. On signal they race to empty the dispenser by pulling individual tissues from the box using only their lips. Everytime the word "Switch!" is called out, (every 12 seconds or so) the next team member in line takes over and continues to remove the tissues, one at a time.    Back To Top
